Lola’s POV
What was I expecting? I sighed and looked around to see a few people still looking at me. Some were looking at me with pity, some with curiosity and I got a few hate glares too.
I shook it off and walked towards Avianca and the rest of the group. They were looking at me with curiosity too, I just pasted a smile on my face and tried not to trip over my legs as I walked towards them.
“What was that, girl?” Alex was the first one to ask when I reached where they were standing. “What was what?” I feigned curiosity but they were not buying it.
“That that just happened, durhhhhhh. Why was the future Alpha talking to you? He rarely talks to anyone in the pack”, Avianca added and I tried to come up with lies but couldn’t find any.
I was about to talk when Greg spoke up. “Nathan is Lyla’s mate?” He said and everybody’s head whipped to the stage so fast I almost laughed. It’s funny how people lose interest fast.
Loud claps and cheers erupted in the crowd as Nathan and Lyla kissed passionately. I felt jealous for a moment but I quickly got over it. Lyla has been nothing but nice to me since I got here, I shouldn’t be jealous she has someone that loves her because I got rejected twice.
I felt eyes on me and looked up to see Greg looking at me. I sent him a grateful smile and he nodded in response. He knew what the relationship between Adrian and I was and that’s why he took the attention of the other people in the group away from me.
Lyla came rushing towards us and held my hands immediately she got to me, she must have seen what happened from the stage.
“Lola and I have something to do right now. How about we meet up with you guys for a group lunch tomorrow or the day after it? We really have to go now”, she hurriedly said and I looked at her in confusion.
We had something to do? How come I wasn’t informed? I was about to question her when she gave me a look that said ‘shut up
“Of course we can meet again some other time. You can go now”, Greg was the one who spoke. We said a hurried goodbye before we left the group and went towards the pack house.
“We have something to do? How do I not know about it?” I asked her as we moved towards the pack house. She stopped abruptly, making me almost trip.
“Of course we do not have plans, Lola. It was just to get you away from there, you looked uncomfortable” she said and I looked down at my hands.
Of course she noticed everything from the stage.
“You saw everything from the stage?” I asked her sheepishly. “Yes, I saw everything. Am I the only one you can raise your voice at? You should have told the bitch off when she said whatever she said. It must have been something about Adrian, I saw the way your face looked pained after she left”, she rushed out. I could feel the anger in her words and I wondered who the anger was directed at.
“What exactly was I supposed to say to her, Lyla? She told me to leave Adrian alone because he would never love me”, I said, my voice cracking. “And she was right. When I told Adrian what she said, he just left without saying anything. Is that whom I was supposed to fight for?” I asked with tears in my eyes and Lyla’s eyes softened.
She was about to talk when she stopped. “Let’s leave here first, there are lots of people around”, she dragged me into her room.
“Are you not supposed to be with your mate right now?” I asked, partly because I did not want to have any conversation regarding Adrian and partly because she was actually supposed to be with her mate.
