The ceremony soon started but Lola's scent was all I could focus on. It was almost painful to be away from her. I longed to be one with her and make her mine completely. I suddenly noticed some males sniffing the air and getting restless as her scent grew stronger. I looked over to Nathan but he wasn't doing the same thing. I had barely had time to process what was going on when a loud noise came from where Lola had been standing with her friends and only her stunning black dress was missing from the group. "She's in heat", Lyla shouted and that was when it all clicked in my head. The overwhelming need to be with her, her strong scents, the unmated males that kept sniffing the air. I did not think before I ran towards the direction she was in. Nothing mattered in that moment. I ran to where she was laying and held her writhing body in my arms. She relaxed into my arms and slightly opened her eyes to look at me. "You can sleep now baby. I'll take care of you", I whispered to her and she closed her eyes as her body finally relaxed in my arms. Nathan was beside me as I scooped her into my arms. He, Jace and Greg were the ones holding off the unmated males that were trying to reach my woman. "The pack is not safe for her at the moment. Why don't you take her to the cabin? She'd be safer there and you can stay with her till she comes back to normal", he said and I nodded at him. Ignoring my raging boner and the crazy males trying to get to my mate, I carried her into Nathan's car and gently placed her in the passenger's seat. She started becoming restless the moment I stopped holding her. I rushed into the driver's seat and kept one hand on her body as I sped out of the pack house. My heart was breaking as I took in her face that was contorted in pain. It was all my fault. If I had accepted her sooner and marked her, she wouldn't be in pain. I'm sorry, Lola.
